TO ACHIEVE THESE ENDS ONE HOOD WILL:
- Promote cultural events such as Cultural Performances, Rites of Passage and Naming Ceremonies, Conscious Hip Hop and Spoken Word performances, Writers Workshops, and Youth Healing Circles that will serve to create a communal and revolutionary consciousness amongst Black youth, as well as connect them with their community.
- Promote social service and political projects to help the community, such as Stop The Violence, One Hood United rallies, Clean the Streets/Hood Days, Help The Elderly, Children of Prisoner Unity Day picnics, Buy Black Days, End Domestic/Gender Violence Days, etc.
- Encourage Communities to create neighborhood People’s Assemblies and Block Committees that will be vehicles for participatory direct-democracy and self determination within our neighborhoods. These will also be spaces to perform grassroots organizing, wherein there is guided agenda setting provided by the people within the community. The purpose of the People’s Assemblies will be to build and exercise “dual power” – building autonomous power outside the realm of the state by creating a political agenda answerable only to the people.
